Lepas L6 EV leads new brand into Australia with the intelligent LEX platform

Lepas Australia has revealed initial specifications for the brand’s first model for the Australian market, the L6 EV, ahead of its local launch in October.

The sophisticated mid-size electric SUV will introduce Australian customers to Lepas, the latest automotive brand from Chery Group, combining bold design, premium comfort and intelligent technology.

Developed specifically for Lepas, the intelligent LEX platform is designed to support a broad range of new-energy powertrains and vehicle sizes, providing the technological foundation for the brand’s next generation of electrified vehicles.

The L6 EV also benefits from Chery Group’s extensive battery development expertise, incorporating a high-density battery system engineered to deliver an impressive balance of performance, efficiency, charging capability and everyday usability.

Sophisticated design, premium cabin

The Lepas L6 has been designed to stand apart in the mid-size SUV segment, with smooth, sculpted lines, distinctive slim LED lighting signatures inspired by the eyes of a leopard and a confident, modern stance.

The design philosophy continues inside the cabin, with a spacious and contemporary interior complemented by premium materials and technology-focused features.

The intelligent LEX platform brings advanced EV technology

At the heart of the L6 is the intelligent LEX platform, Lepas’s dedicated technology architecture developed to underpin its new generation of electrified vehicles.

Designed with flexibility across BEV and PHEV powertrain configurations, the intelligent LEX platform combines an advanced electrical architecture with high-efficiency electric propulsion and intelligent chassis technology.

For the L6 EV, the platform delivers a balance of performance, efficiency, charging capability and cabin refinement, while providing the technological foundation for Lepas vehicles to evolve through future software and technology updates.

Chery battery technology delivers 440km range

Powering the L6 EV is a 65kWh LFP battery developed with Chery Group’s extensive battery technology expertise.

The front-mounted electric motor produces 160kW of maximum power and 275Nm of maximum torque, with drive sent exclusively to the front wheels.

The L6 delivers a claimed 440km driving range (WLTP), with energy consumption rated at 17.5kWh/100km.

DC fast charging capability enables the battery to charge from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes, providing convenient access to additional range when required.

The battery forms part of Chery Group’s broader investment in new-energy technology, with battery development focused on efficiency, durability, safety and performance across a wide range of operating conditions.

Intelligent technology designed around the driver

The L6 combines advanced technology with a comprehensive suite of convenience and driver-assistance features.

A standout feature is Automatic Parking Assist (APA), which allows the vehicle to steer itself into a parking space, making reverse, parallel and perpendicular parking easier with minimal driver intervention. The L6 also features a 360-degree Around View Monitor, providing a comprehensive view around the vehicle to assist with parking and low-speed manoeuvring, while offering centimetre-level distance displays and alerts.

Lepas L6 EV arrives in October

The Lepas L6 EV will be the first model introduced to Australian customers as the brand establishes its local presence, and will be showcased for the first time at Everything Electric at Sydney Olympic Park from 18–20 September.
